Omar responds to Trump slam: ‘You shouldn’t be in office’
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) responded Friday after President Trump criticized her during an interview with reporters.
Omar fired back on Twitter after Trump told reporters at the White House that if “one-half” of the news reports and online criticism Omar has received from right-wing figures was accurate, she should not be in office.
{mosads}”If one-half of the things they’re saying about her are true, she shouldn’t even be in office,” Trump told reporters Friday morning.
“If one-tenth of what they say about you is true, you shouldn’t be in office,” Omar shot back, adding “next.”

Trump’s comments came as he sought to defend Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) from criticism levied at her by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) after the New York Democrat accused Pelosi of singling out women of color for her own critical remarks.
“The persistent singling out … it got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful … the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color,” Ocasio-Cortez said this week in an interview with The Washington Post.
Ocasio-Cortez and Omar are part of a four-member group of freshmen women lawmakers who have pushed for progressive policies.
