Christie defends Mueller: I don’t think Trump’s going to fire ‘someone like that’
Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said on Sunday that he does not believe President Trump will fire special counsel Robert Muller.
“As for Bob Mueller, he’s conducted this investigation so far with great integrity, without leaking and by showing results,” Christie said on ABC’s “This Week.”

Speculation that Trump might fire Mueller, who is currently investigating Russian interference in the 2016 elections and possible ties between the president’s campaign and Moscow, intensified late last week after Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

Session said he fired McCabe for providing unauthorized information to the press and not being forthcoming during an investigation into the matter. McCabe argues that he had the authority to share the information and that his firing is part of an effort to undermine Mueller’s investigation.
Trump reportedly tried to fire Muller last year but backed off when the White House counsel warned that he would resign if Muller was fired.
