Graham: ‘Ford has a problem and destroying Judge Kavanaugh’s life won’t fix her problem’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) continued his defense of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh against allegations of sexual misconduct from three women. 

Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Kavanaugh sexually assaulting her at a high school party in 1982, and Kavanaugh testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday. Kavanaugh vehemently denied the allegations. 

{mosads}“This is not about finding the truth between Dr. Ford and Brett Kavanaugh. This is about delaying the hearing and to get past the midterms, hope they pick up the Senate and denying this seat to be filled by Donald Trump,” Graham said of the Democrats on the committee on Fox’s “Hannity” Thursday night.

“Everything I believed I knew about Brett Kavanaugh, I am now more convinced than ever that he didn’t do it, that he’s the right guy to be on the court, that Ms. Ford has got a problem, and destroying Judge Kavanaugh’s life won’t fix her problem,” he added.

Graham, who sits on the committee, emerged as Kavanaugh’s most vocal defender at Thursday’s hearing, particularly criticizing Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s (D-Calif.) handling of the allegations and recent calls for an FBI investigation into the allegations.

“If you wanted an FBI investigation, you could have come to us. What you want to do is destroy this guy’s life, hold this seat open, and hope you win in 2020. … I hope the American people can see through this sham, that you knew about it and you held it. You had no intention of protecting Dr. Ford,” Graham shouted at Feinstein, the committee’s ranking member.

Ford initially submitted a letter to Feinstein and her congresswoman, Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.), in late July outlining the allegations. The letter was leaked earlier this month to The Intercept. Both Feinstein and The Intercept denied the letter was leaked by Feinstein’s office.
