Sanders becomes first Jewish candidate to win a state’s primary
With his win in New Hampshire Tuesday night, Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders became the first Jewish candidate to win a state’s primary.
Sanders rarely speaks about his faith, but in a recent CNN town hall, he acknowledged his spirituality as a driving force behind his candidacy.
“It’s a guiding principle in my life, absolutely, it is,” Sanders said.
“I would not be running for president of the United States if I did not have very strong religious and spiritual feelings.”
