Rubio: Hillary ‘a defender of the status quo’

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said on Sunday that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was unfit for the Oval Office because she would continue President Obama’s failed policies.

{mosads}“This is not a time for the status quo,” Rubio told host Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday.”

“She’s a defender of the status quo in a time when we need transformation in our policies,” said Rubio, a 2016 GOP presidential candidate.

Rubio also said that Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, were too ethically questionable for a return to the White House.

“There seems to be this cloud of constant scandal and things that distract us from the core issues of the moment,” he said of how average Americans viewed the Clintons.

Rubio also touted his foreign policy stances compared to Obama and the Clintons.

Their core values at home and abroad, he argued, were rooted in the past.

“The nation is at a hinge moment in its history,” Rubio said. “We have to recognize the balance of power in the world has shifted.”

The Florida lawmaker said that he likes the sound of a tentative pact with Iran over its nuclear arms research less the more he hears about it.

“We now know what the outlines of the deal are, and it’s much worse than we anticipated,” he said of Obama’s potential agreement with Tehran, announced on April 2.

“Every time there’s new revelations about the deal it gets worse and worse and worse,” Rubio added.

Rubio also defended the controversial 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Questions about the unpopular conflict have dogged former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-Fla.) all week long after he initially declared his support for it and then reversed course.

“He wasn’t dealing with a Nobel Peace Prize winner,” Rubio said of former President George W. Bush’s decision to launch the invasion.

“He was dealing with Saddam Hussein,” he added. “The world is a better place because Saddam Hussein is not there.”

“It was not a mistake,” he added of the invasion, given what information was information was available to the George W. Bush administration at the time.

Rubio also praised Saturday’s U.S. military raid on the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) that killed one of its senior leaders.

“It’s good news,” he said of the operation that took Abu Sayyaf’s life.

“Anytime you can degrade or take away leadership from this organization it’s a step forward,” he added.

American operatives entered Syria on Saturday morning and killed Sayyaf when he resisted capture.

They additionally apprehended his wife, Umm Sayyaf, and freed a Yazidi girl who was reportedly the couple’s slave.
