Graham: ‘Lucifer may be the only person Trump can beat in a general election’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said there’s only one person Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump can win against in a general election: Lucifer.

“I think Lucifer may be the only person Trump can beat in a general election,” the former GOP presidential candidate said on CBS’s “Face The Nation” in an interview that aired Sunday.

{mosads}”When it comes to women and Hispanics, Trump polls like Lucifer, so this is a contest between conservatism and Trumpism, and Trumpism will get creamed in the ballot box.”

Former Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) called Trump’s rival, Texas senator Ted Cruz, “Lucifer in the flesh” during a speech last week.

Graham, who has thrown his support behind Cruz and repeatedly attacked Trump, also slammed Trump’s foreign policy after the front-runner made a speech last week advocating for an “America first” approach.

He advised his Republican colleagues to distance themselves from Trump.

“Be your own person. Reject Donald Trump’s approach to solving immigration, because it won’t work and it’s hateful,” he said.

“Establish your own persona and your own relationship with American women voters. Embrace conservatism, reject Trumpism,” he continued.

“To my Republican colleagues, distance yourself as much as you can from Donald Trump, because he’s toxic for conservatism.”
