Ky. Dem: Maybe Trump’s going to Louisville to meet with ‘Bowling Green massacre’ victims

Kentucky Democrat Rep. John Yarmuth took at jab at President Trump and his officials in a Wednesday tweet questioning the president’s reported weekend trip to the state.

“The @WhiteHouse won’t tell us where @POTUS is headed to in Louisville. Must be a private meeting with victims of the Bowling Green Massacre,” Yarmuth tweeted.

{mosads}Yarmuth’s tweet calls back to a remark from White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway last month in which she erroneously referred to a “Bowling Green massacre” terrorist attack that never occurred.

Conway later clarified that she meant to refer to two Iraqi nationals in the town who pleaded guilty to terrorism-related charges.

The lawmaker’s tweet follows local reports that Trump is traveling to Louisville, Ky., over the weekend. A spokesman for the Louisville Regional Airport Authority confirmed to the Courier Journal that airport officials were warned of Trump’s arrival.

But White House spokesman Sean Spicer declined to confirm reports during his press briefing Wednesday.

“I’ve seen that report. We have nothing to announce with regard to the president’s schedule at this time,” Spicer said. “We will have an update on the president’s schedule later this week, but I do anticipate that the president will be very active in his support for the repeal-and-replace effort.”
