Trump parroting Dem ‘talking points,’ Walker says

Gov. Scott Walker (R) said on Sunday that fellow GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump sounds like a Democrat when the billionaire attacks his record in Wisconsin.

{mosads}“Well, he’s using the talking points of the Democrats,” Walker told host George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week.”

“They didn’t work in the past,” he said. “They’re not going to work now.”

“Our roads are actually better,” Walker added of Wisconsin. “Our schools are better. Our state is better.”

Trump argued earlier on Sunday that he is unconcerned with Walker’s 2016 campaign, given his record in Wisconsin.

Walker said he understands the voter dissatisfaction Trump is harnessing but believes it is misplaced against him.

“The one thing that I do want to clarify is I do think there is some real frustration out there,” the 2016 White House hopeful said.

“It’s why you see not only his numbers up, you see some of the other candidates who have not run for office before,” Walker said of Trump and other outsider candidates.

“They’re angry at Washington,” he said of voters. “Heck, I’m angry at Washington. I’m angry at my own party’s leadership, who told us they were going to repeal ObamaCare, and we still don’t see a bill on the desk of the president. I think that’s where the real frustration is.”

Walker additionally said he believes Trump’s recent calls for ending birthright citizenship are a political ploy for gaining voters in the next election cycle.

“My point is that any discussion that goes beyond securing the border and enforcing the laws are things that should be red flag to voters out there,” he said.

“[They have] for years heard lip service from politicians and are understandably angry, because those politicians haven’t been committed to following through on those promises.”

Walker added that he opposes a repeal of the 14th Amendment legalizing birthright citizenship, saying border security and immigration law enforcement are the more pressing issues.
