Tucker Carlson: Dems are ‘plotting a coup’ using immigration protests

Fox News Host Tucker Carlson said on Thursday that Democrats have been “plotting, in effect, a coup” as President Trump continues to face public pressure over his immigration policies.

“What happened to liberals? Well, a lot of things. One, they lost power, and that drove them off the deep end. They plan to get their power back, no matter what it takes,” Carlson said during his Thursday evening show, before explaining “how the left plans to do it.” 

{mosads}The host said David Faris divulged the Democrats’ game plan in his book “It’s Time to Fight Dirty.”

“As Faris puts it in the book, quote, ‘Republicans have always feared that immigration would change the character of American society. Democrats should reward them with their very worst nightmare,’” Carlson said. “Remember that paragraph. It is the blueprint for what we are about to see.” 

“They’re going to tell you it’s about civil rights, or about some other principle that they pretend to care about, but they are lying,” Carlson said in reference to Democrats. “It’s about seizing power and holding it. That’s their only aim, they’re deadly serious about it. While you were grilling in the backyard last night, they were plotting, in effect, a coup.”

Carlson remarks arrive at a time the the Trump administration continues to face opposition over its “zero tolerance” immigration policy.

The controversial policy resulted in the separation of hundreds of migrant families since being implemented by Attorney General Jeff Sessions in May.   

Trump ended the separations with an executive order in June, and the Department of Health and Human Services said this week it is working to comply with a court deadline to reunite children with their parents.
