Spicer makes surprise appearance at Emmys

Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer made a surprise appearance at Sunday night’s Emmy Awards.

Spicer used a rolling podium, similar to the one Melissa McCarthy used to impersonate him on “Saturday Night Live,” to make his way on stage during host Stephen Colbert’s opening monologue.

“This will be the largest audience to witness an Emmys, period, both in-person and around the world,” Spicer said, mocking his own words he used to describe the crowd at President Trump’s inauguration earlier this year.

Spicer may not be up for an award, but McCarthy won an Emmy last Sunday for her impersonation of the former Trump official.

Spicer resigned in May after Trump announced that Anthony Scaramucci would be the incoming communications director. Spicer formally left the White House last month. Scaramucci was ousted from the position after 10 days.
