Poll: Two-thirds say Trump has done more to divide than unite US

Two-thirds of Americans in a new poll say President Trump has done more to divide the country than to unite it.

An ABC News/Washington Post poll out early Sunday finds that 66 percent of Americans said they think Trump has done more to divide the country, while just 28 percent said Trump has done more to unite it.

The poll also finds that 59 percent of Americans said they don’t think Trump has brought “needed change” to the country, compared to 39  percent of respondents who disagree.

{mosads}Trump’s approval rating for the month of September crept up, pollsters found, with 39 percent of Americans now approving of Trump’s performance and 57 percent disapproving. That’s 1 point higher than his approval mark in August and a 3-point increase from his approval rating in July.

The poll also found almost twice as many people trust U.S. military leaders to handle North Korea more responsibly than Trump.

Seventy-two percent of respondents said they trust U.S. military leaders to deal with the North Korean threat responsibly, with just 37 percent saying they trust Trump instead.

The poll sampled 1,002 adults from Sept. 18 to 21, with a margin of error of 3.5 points.
