Jamie Lee Curtis blames Trump for Hawaii false alarm

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis attacked President Trump on Saturday over a false alarm sent by Hawaii’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA) that alerted residents to a supposedly incoming ballistic missile.

In a tweet posted Saturday afternoon, Curtis attacked Trump on Twitter, writing “YOU DID THIS!” despite the fact that the EMA, which is run by the state of Hawaii, apologized for the incident Saturday afternoon and Trump was golfing at the time.

Hawaii’s residents were left panicked and looking for information after an emergency notification went out early Saturday afternoon warning residents of an incoming ballistic missile threat.

The initial alert warned residents to “seek shelter,” while a second alert sent 38 minutes later said that “there is no missile threat or danger to the State of Hawaii.”

Hawaii Gov. David Ige (D) blamed the incident on an error made during a shift change.

“It was a mistake made during a standard procedure at the change over of a shift, and an employee pushed the wrong button,” Ige said.

The president was golfing at the time of the incident but was briefed on the situation, according to the White House, which called the matter a “state exercise.”

“The President has been briefed on the state of Hawaii’s emergency management exercise. This was purely a state exercise,” White House deputy press secretary Lindsay Walters said in a statement.
