Seth Meyers: Putin visiting DC would be ‘worst-ever episode of Undercover Boss’

Late-night TV host Seth Meyers joked that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s potential trip to the White House would be the “worst-ever episode of ‘Undercover Boss.’ “

“The White House announced today that President Trump plans to invite Vladimir Putin to Washington this fall, in what is sure to be the worst-ever episode of ‘Undercover Boss,’ ” Meyers quipped on his show Thursday, as a graphic depicted Putin with a “Make America Great Again” hat and a mustache.

The White House said Thursday that Trump asked national security adviser John Bolton to invite Putin to visit Washington this fall, an invitation that came just days after the two leader’s met in Helsinki.

Trump has faced intense scrutiny over his handling of Russia since the Monday summit. He faced blowback for siding with Putin’s denials of Russian election interference at a press conference following the meeting, and later walked back the comments.

Russia said Friday that it is open to a second meeting with Trump.

The prospect of a second summit is already facing some pushback, including from Senate Republicans.
