Stephen Colbert lambasted President Trump for his attacks on the media, saying it seems that journalists have replaced the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) as the “enemy of the American people.”

On “The Late Show” on Monday, Colbert mocked Trump for calling a variety of news outlets “the enemy of the American People” in a tweet last week.

“Do you know who I feel bad for? ISIS,” Colbert said. “They try so hard. Sorry, ISIS. If you want to get on the list, you gotta publish photos of Trump’s inauguration crowd, then he’ll be really, really angry at you.”

{mosads}Colbert also commented on the resignation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn over his communications with Russia. Colbert mocked Trump’s newly picked replacement for the role, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster. Speaking as McMaster, Colbert joked he would protect America from the mainstream media.

“I swear to do everything in my power to protect the nation from America’s enemies — which I’m being told are CBS and the failing New York Times,” Colbert said. “Wow, things have really changed since I was in the army five minutes ago.”
