ABC’s Robin Roberts had a simple comment for Omarosa Manigault Newman, who is leaving her White House role.
“She said she has a story to tell, I’m sure she’ll be selling that story,” Roberts said on “Good Morning America.”
She added: “Bye, Felicia.”
“Bye, Felicia” is a quote from the 1995 film “Friday.” It became a popular meme and is used as a dismissive farewell.
Manigault Newman appeared on the first season of President Trump’s former NBC show “The Apprentice” and has served as the director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison.
There are conflicting reports on whether she resigned or was fired.
{mosads}White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday that Manigault Newman’s resignation would go into effect next month.
Trump on Wednesday evening also thanked her for her service and wished her “continued success.”
But April Ryan, a journalist with American Urban Radio Networks, reported Wednesday that Manigault Newman yelled profanities after learning that White House chief of staff John Kelly had fired her and was subsequently removed from the compound.
The Secret Service, however, pushed back on the report, which said Manigault Newman was physically removed from the White House grounds.
“The Secret Service was not involved in the termination process of Ms. Manigault Newman or the escort off of the complex. Our only involvement in this matter was to deactivate the individual’s pass which grants access to the complex,” the agency said Wednesday.
Manigault Newman also pushed back on the report that she was fired and escorted off the White House grounds.
“I resigned and I didn’t do that in the residence, as is being reported,” she told ABC’s “Good Morning America” early Thursday.
