Bush administration ethics chief Richard Painter went after President Trump for his tweet claiming Facebook helped Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election, telling Trump to “get a grip.”

“We worry about our safety when you control the nuclear arsenal and send out Tweets like this. Do you think it’s October 2016? Get a grip,” Painter tweeted Saturday.

Painter was responding to a tweet from Trump earlier Saturday that claimed Facebook had helped Clinton during the election.

“Crooked Hillary Clinton spent hundreds of millions of dollars more on Presidential Election than I did. Facebook was on her side, not mine!” Trump tweeted.{mosads}

Painter has been a frequent critic of the Trump administration. He said Wednesday that Trump “has no understanding of human emotions” after Trump invoked the death of chief of staff John Kelly’s son to defend how he contacts the families of fallen service members.

Trump has ramped up his attacks on Facebook as lawmakers crack down on the site for its role during the 2016 election.

Facebook revealed last month that a Russian troll farm had purchased thousands of political ads during the election. Company officials are now facing congressional hearings over the ads.
