Trump declares himself a uniter after big NH win

Donald Trump on Tuesday night declared himself a winner whose appeal could unite all factions of the Republican electorate.

“I was so happy. I just looked at your report, and it was right across the board, with men, with women, with young, with old, you know, everything,” the billionaire real estate mogul told CNN’s Jake Tapper in a telephone interview shortly after his overwhelming victory in the New Hampshire primary. 

{mosads}“To win every single category was perhaps the greatest honor of all.”

Trump was referring to CNN exit polls that had him leading his competitors among “men and women, voters under age 64, voters without a college degree … conservatives and moderates, both first-time voters and those who’ve voted before, registered Republicans and those who are registered as undeclared.”

“It’s a great feeling to know that it’s been that big of a victory,” Trump said.

Asked which part of his message he thought had resonated most with Granite State voters, Trump said, “I think it started with trade and the fact that we’re being just ripped off by everybody … and I think it really ended up being very much borders and security.

“I think because of the fact that I had done so well with the border and done so well with the wall … what happened is people started saying that I would also be the best with respect to [the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria].

“It seems that the whole security thing, the military thing.”

Trump also said his campaign focused more on its ground game after his disappointing loss in the Iowa caucuses last week.

“The ground game was not something I was extremely familiar with, but I learned quickly,” he said. 

“Now we’re going to South Carolina, and I think we’re going to have tremendous success there.”
