Megyn Kelly fires back at Jane Fonda over plastic surgery question
NBC’s Megyn Kelly on Monday blasted actress Jane Fonda for criticizing her, bringing up her “offensive” criticism of the U.S. during the Vietnam War.
The two first tangled in September on Kelly’s show “Megan Kelly Today,” when Kelly asked Fonda about her past plastic surgeries. Fonda seemed surprised by the question and sought to quickly move on.

But, Fonda brought up the incident during interviews last week, calling Kelly’s question inappropriate and saying it “showed that she’s not that good an interviewer.”
Kelly fired back on her show Monday, accusing Fonda of being “fixated” on that exchange and airing a montage of other interviews in which Fonda talked openly about her plastic surgery.

“I gave her the chance to empower other women, young and old, on a subject which she reports to know well and she rejected it,” Kelly said.
Kelly said she wouldn’t take lessons from Fonda about what is or isn’t appropriate, referencing how Fonda became known as “Hanoi Jane” for her criticism of the U.S. during the Vietnam War. Kelly said Fonda’s radio broadcasts “attempted to shame American troops.”
“By the way, she still says she’s not proud of America,” Kelly said. “So the moral indignation is a little much.”
Kelly said her question about plastic surgery was appropriate because Fonda was promoting “Our Souls at Night,” a film about aging.
Fonda, in 1972, posed for photos with Viet Cong and denounced “U.S. imperialism,” drawing widespread condemnation during the Vietnam War. She later publicly apologized for her actions.
