Letterman slams Trump as ‘goon’: ‘I don’t like this man as a president’
Former “Late Show” host David Letterman slammed President Trump as a “goon” in an interview on “Today” that will air this weekend.
“Even with other presidents that I’ve disagreed with politically, I felt like, OK, I can live with their representation, but I’m sick and tired of everybody wringing their hands about this,” Letterman said in a clip of the interview posted by Mediaite. “Let’s just settle this at the next election. Let’s just stop yacking about what a goon he is.”
{mosads} He also said that he does not like Trump’s presidency “as an American.”
“As an American, I don’t like this man as a president of our country,” he said. “I love being an American, but I don’t feel he represents me, and I don’t like that.”
Letterman told host Willie Geist that if he were still on “The Late Show” he would handle Trump in a “head-on” and likely “inelegant” way. Letterman left the show in 2015.
