Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wears ‘Trump won’ mask on House floor

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) donned a mask with the words “Trump won” as she walked onto the House floor on Sunday.

“Just sworn in,” Taylor Greene said in a tweet. “It’s an honor to represent the people of Northwest Georgia! Time to get to work.”

The newly-elected congresswoman attached a video to her tweet showing herself embracing fellow first-term Republican member Madison Cawthorn saying “oh my gosh we’re so excited.”

Taylor Greene, who has voiced support for the QAnon conspiracy theory, is among President Trump’s most vocal supporters inside the incoming Republican class.

She posted a photo of herself online earlier Monday with a caption claiming Trump won the presidential election he lost to President-elect Joe Biden.

Trump’s campaign has filed numerous lawsuits challenging the results in various states, but they have been repeatedly rejected for a lack of evidence of standing.

Republicans in the House and Senate are challenging the Electoral College results Wednesday, but the effort does not have the votes to move forward and has badly divided the GOP.

Taylor Greene has also criticized masked mandates and on Sunday reportedly got into a confrontation with House staff after she refused to put a face covering on when she entered the House chamber of the Capitol Building.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) sent a letter to members Monday reminding them to adhere to social distancing guidelines and wear masks at all times.

“When staff urge you to leave the floor, it is not a suggestion. It is a direction, in the interest of keeping the Congress healthy and intact,” Pelosi said. “As Members of Congress, we are considered essential workers. We must take our responsibility seriously.”

Taylor Greene accused Pelosi of attempting to change the rules for partisan reasons.

“[Pelosi] changed the COVID rules because she is desperate to cling to the gavel,” Taylor Greene said. “No one can attack me about masks, when Pelosi is sending Democrats to the floor with positive COVID tests to vote for her for Speaker.”

Republicans attacked Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.) and Pelosi after Moore was allowed on the House floor after testing positive for the coronavirus on Dec. 28. A doctor had cleared Moore to vote in person at the Capitol, she said.
