McAfee on chances of Libertarian win: ‘We’re not that stupid’

Libertarian presidential candidate John McAfee, perhaps best known for his antivirus software business, said he knows the party has no chance of winning the White House.

{mosads}“Please, we are not that stupid,” McAfee told MSNBC at the party’s convention in Orlando, Fla.

“So, what I am looking at — we have a train. We’re getting on it tomorrow, and it dead stops in November, and we got to get off. We have this number of months to change America. We can do this, but not by believing I’m going to enter the Oval Office,” McAfee said. “We can change it by reflecting the light on me to the things we can change: local elections, grassroot efforts.”

At the party’s convention this weekend in Orlando, 18 libertarian candidates will battle it out for the chance to be the presidential nominee. McAfee is viewed as the wildcard in the party and was referred to by the Belize prime minister as “extremely paranoid” and “bonkers.”

McAfee fled that country in 2012 when government authorities wanted to question him as part of a murder investigation.

Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson is viewed as the favorite to win the nomination, and in three national surveys polled in the double digits in a hypothetical match-up against Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, the likely nominees for the Republican and Democratic parties.
