Former Vice President Joe Biden lashed out at President Trump on Saturday for creating a “dangerous” climate in America.

Biden, while speaking about his upcoming book at the Miami Book Fair in Florida, paused to discuss the Trump administration. He accused the president of not caring about the working class voters that put him in the White House and said he and his advisors take advantage of “change and pain.”

“I think it’s one of the most dangerous times in modern history,” Biden said, according to the Miami Herald.  {mosads}

“I think that there have always been voices in our country — and particularly in the 19th and 20th century in Europe — that have always tried to take advantage of pain and change,” Biden said, referring to former White House strategist Stephen Bannon and others on his campaign.

Biden reportedly criticized Bannon for his “half-baked nationalism” and “phony populism.” He also questioned if Bannon and Trump really cared about the voters that supported his campaign.

“Do you think [Trump] really cares about the kids I grew up with in Scranton, Pennsylvania, as far as their economic well being?” Biden said.

The former vice president didn’t shy away from sharing his concerns with the Democratic party either, placing some blame for election loss on “elites in my party.” But he ended on an optimistic note.

“The world is ours. The rest of the world is looking to us,” he said.

The appearance follows the release of Biden’s memoir titled, “Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose.” The book focuses on the death of Biden’s son from cancer and the former Delaware senator’s decision not to seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016.
