An altercation over President Trump Monday resulted in a Pittsburgh man’s right ear being bitten off, according to police.

Police said that approximately 6:45 a.m., officers responded to a gas station in East Liberty where a 30-year-old man was requesting treatment after being assaulted in his nearby apartment.

The man, who was identified as Salatiel Marcos Ortiz by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, said his roommate assaulted him during an argument over Trump’s immigration policies. Both men are from Mexico, and the roommate expressed concern that he would be deported under the Trump administration, the paper reported.

When the argument turned violent, the attacker bit off Ortiz’s right ear. Ortiz then ran to a nearby gas station to seek help, police said.

{mosads}Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported Ortiz to a local hospital in stable condition; the roommate fled the scene.

Police recovered the man’s ear in the apartment.
