Trump aide: Media working with Dems to help Hillary

Katrina Pierson, a spokeswoman for Donald Trump, says the media is working with Democrats to undermine the businessman’s presidential bid.

“You did see the media jump all over Donald’s comment yesterday about Russians and hackings and emails,” Fox Business Network’s Stuart Varney said during a Thursday interview with Pierson.

{mosads}“What it demonstrated was the danger of just letting Donald Trump go with no prompter, no notes, no script, answering questions rapid fire,” Varney said. “There is danger in that, isn’t there?”

“Americans are keenly aware now that the media and the DNC are working together to destroy the candidacy of Donald Trump,” Pierson responded, referencing the Democratic National Committee.

“Mr. Trump is going to go down as the most underestimated political candidate of all time.”

Pierson said the media applies a different standard to Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, than it does Trump, the GOP nominee.

“The media’s working with the Democrats to try to help Hillary Clinton,” Pierson said.

“She has not had a press conference. She will not answer questions. She won’t answer to anything she’s done.”

Trump came under criticism Wednesday for seemingly inviting Russia to hack Clinton and acquire her personal emails. The remarks came after a leak of DNC emails that intelligence officials believe was carried out by Russian hackers.

“Russia, if you are listening, I hope you are able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by the press,” Trump said.

On Thursday, Trump said the remark was sarcastic and accused Democrats of trying to deflect attention from the leaked emails. Pierson said accusations that Trump is seeking Russia’s help are “ridiculous.”

“You’re going to see him defend himself, obviously, from the ridiculous charge of working with Russia,” Pierson said of Trump’s campaign event later that day.

“I mean, it was Hillary Clinton and [former President] Bill Clinton who garnered deals with Russia, sold them uranium,” Pierson said.

“She signed off on it, and Bill Clinton received over half a million dollars. I really don’t think they want to continue this Russia line much longer.”
