Poll: Majority says Clinton won debate

Over half of likely voters think Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump in their first presidential debate, according to a new poll.

Fifty-two percent say Clinton emerged victorious at Hofstra University in the NBC News/Survey Monkey survey out Wednesday, while 21 percent say the same about Trump.

{mosads}Twenty-six percent say neither White House hopeful won, and 1 percent had no answer.

Pollsters also found Clinton improved her image with voters more than Trump during their contest.

Twenty-six percent say Clinton improved their opinion with her performance, while 17 percent say she made it worse. Trump bettered his image with 13 percent of respondents at Monday night’s event.

Twenty-six percent now have a lower opinion of Trump.

Respondents additionally believe Clinton has the better personality and temperament for the presidency.

Fifty-three percent say Clinton has those traits, versus 46 percent who feel she lacks them and 1 percent with no answer.

Thirty-six percent think Trump has presidential personality and temperament, contrasted with 63 percent who say he does not and 1 percent with no answer.

NBC News/Survey Monkey conducted its latest sampling of 7,541 likely voters via online interviews conducted from Sept. 26-27. It has a 1.6 percent margin of error.

Monday’s debate shattered viewership records, with more than 80 million people watching the event.

The contest is the first of three between Clinton and Trump before Election Day this November.

Clinton and Trump next clash Oct. 9 in St. Louis, Mo., and again Oct. 19 in Las Vegas.
