Meghan McCain quotes father after latest Trump attack

Meghan McCain, the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), took aim at President Trump late Tuesday after he renewed his attacks on her father.

“As my father always used to say to me — Illegitimi non carborundum,” McCain wrote on Twitter just hours after the president called her father’s vote against repealing ObamaCare in 2017 “disgraceful” and said he will “never” be a fan of the Arizona Republican, who died last August.

The Latin phrase is commonly translated as “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.”

{mosads}Trump railed against John McCain over the weekend amid reports that one of the senator’s associates had shared a dossier of allegations about Trump’s ties to Russia with the media and former FBI Director James Comey.

“So it was indeed (just proven in court papers) ‘last in his class’ (Annapolis) John McCain that sent the Fake Dossier to the FBI and Media hoping to have it printed BEFORE the Election. He & the Dems, working together, failed (as usual). Even the Fake News refused this garbage!” Trump tweeted Sunday.

Meghan McCain responded to his remarks later that day, saying in a now-deleted post on Twitter that her late father lives “rent free” in Trump’s head after the president chastised him twice over the weekend.

She also slammed Trump on Saturday after he tweeted that her father had “far worse ‘stains'” than spreading the dossier, referencing his vote against the Republican attempt to repeal ObamaCare in 2017.

“No one will ever love you the way they loved my father,” she tweeted at the time.

“I wish I had been given more Saturday’s with him. Maybe spend yours with your family instead of on twitter obsessing over mine?” she added.
