Rand Paul: We’re in so many wars, Graham can’t keep track

Greg Nash

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) quipped Monday that the U.S. is involved in so many conflicts that Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) can’t keep track of all of them.

“You know you are in too many wars in too many places when even warmonger Lindsay Graham can’t keep track anymore,” Paul tweeted.

{mosads}Graham said on Sunday he wasn’t aware the U.S. had 1,000 troops in Niger.

“I didn’t know there was 1,000 troops in Niger,” Graham said on NBC’s “Meet The Press.”

Officials say four U.S. soldiers were killed in Niger in an ambush orchestrated by the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara, a terrorist group linked to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

Graham said during the interview the Defense Department is expected to “brief us next week as to why they were there and what they were doing.”

“I got a little insight on why they were there and what they were doing,” Graham said.

“I can say this to the families: They were there to defend America. They were there to help allies. They were there to prevent another platform to attack America and our allies.”

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) also said he didn’t know there were American troops in Niger when asked during a Sunday interview.
