De Blasio touts height as reason he can beat Trump: ‘The tall candidate almost always wins’

Bill de Blasio is citing his height as a reason he can stand up to President Trump in the 2020 White House race.

“A tall candidate has won, I think, every one but three of the presidential elections in history,” the New York City mayor and Democratic presidential candidate quipped during a Wednesday appearance on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.”

{mosads}Host Trevor Noah had asked de Blasio what differentiated him from the crowded Democratic field “other than being 10 feet tall.”

At 6 feet, 5 inches, de Blasio is reportedly the tallest mayor in New York’s modern history. De Blasio is so tall, The New York Times reported in 2014, that “city workers had to build an oversize podium for him, installing a custom sliding step that can be pulled out for shorter speakers.”

“The tall candidate almost always wins,” de Blasio, 58, told Noah. “And I’m taller than Donald Trump. Do the math.”

The 73-year-old commander in chief measured in at 6 feet, 3 inches, according to the results of a physical exam released by the White House earlier this year.
