Khashoggi’s daughters in op-ed: ‘His light will never fade’

The daughters of slain Washington Post contributor Jamal Khashoggi penned an op-ed in their father’s former publication Friday.

Noha and Razan Khashoggi wrote in the Post that their father’s “light will never fade” and he was “a loving man with a big heart.”

{mosads}Khashoggi was last seen in October entering a Saudi consulate in Istanbul to obtain a marriage document.

The daughters wrote that the “hardest part was seeing his empty chair” when visiting his Virginia home after he disappeared.

The op-ed, which the daughters said was not a “eulogy,” had a distinctly optimistic tone, focusing on Khashoggi’s accomplishments instead of his passing.

“We feel blessed to have been raised with his moral compass, his respect for knowledge and truth, and his love. Until we meet again in the next life.”

Turkish officials have said that he was killed by a Saudi hit squad shortly after entering the consulate, and was then dismembered and had his body removed from the premises.

The CIA reportedly has come to the conclusion that his slaying was ordered by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, sparking international outcry over the incident.

The Saudi government has claimed that the crown prince was not involved in Khashoggi’s death.

Trump earlier this week said the U.S. would maintain a “steadfast” relationship with Saudi Arabia despite the CIA report.
