McCain: I don’t know what Trump is going to do tomorrow

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said in an interview broadcast late Sunday that he’s never sure of President Trump’s next move.

“I don’t know what he’s going to do tomorrow,” McCain said on CBS’s “60 Minutes” when asked about Trump having “embraced” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and whether he thinks Trump has “initiated divorce proceedings with Republicans” following his talks with Democrats.

“He changes his statements almost on a daily basis,” McCain added. “So for me to spend my time trying to analyze what he says, I don’t know.”

Democratic leaders reached a short-term debt limit and federal spending agreement with Trump earlier this month.

After another meeting with the president, Democrats said Trump had agreed to “enshrine” protections for young immigrants into law quickly, “and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.”

McCain has been critical of Trump in the past.

The Arizona Republican announced on Friday that he would not support the GOP’s latest effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare, drawing fresh attacks from Trump.

Trump targeted the senator at a rally on Friday and took aim at McCain in a tweet on Saturday.

“Democrats are laughingly saying that McCain had a ‘moment of courage,’ ” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Tell that to the people of Arizona who were deceived. 116% increase!”
