Father of slain reporter rails against ‘orange-faced Fuhrer’

Andy Parker, the father of a television journalist killed by a gunman in 2015, is criticizing Donald Trump and other top Republicans for opposing stronger gun control legislation.

Parker used particularly tough language to describe Trump, calling him an “orange-faced Fuhrer.”

{mosads}“Politicians like Paul Ryan, Mike McCaul and Bob Goodlatte know better,” Parker wrote in an op-ed for the New York Daily News, referring to the House Speaker, the GOP chairman of the Homeland Security Committee and the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

“They’re not knuckle-draggers waving Confederate flags at Trump rallies, but they still fall in lockstep behind their orange-faced Fuhrer who promotes this ‘assault on the Second Amendment’ nonsense,” Parker continued. 

“Their bloody hands are egregiously in the pockets of the NRA and they are afraid to pull them out.”

Parker began to challenge the gun lobby and the National Rifle Association after his daughter was killed.

Alison Parker and a cameraman Adam Ward were killed while filming a segment in Virginia on Aug. 26, 2015, by a disgruntled former employee of their television station.

Parker said the issue of gun reform has gained significant traction over the last two years. 

In the past the Democrats have been avoiding debates about the Second Amendment, he wrote. However, today they are tackling that issue head on and are no longer “running away from guns.”

“The needle has moved, and I’m not going to lose this fight,” he concluded.
