Top Kasich aide praises speech from father of slain Muslim soldier
A top Republican strategist is applauding the Democratic National Convention speech from Khizr Khan, the father of a slain Muslim American soldier, saying he presented a better vision of America than GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
“I will take the America of Khizr Khan & his fallen son over Trump’s distorted & selfish version every day of the week,” tweeted John Weaver, a strategist for Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R).

{mosads}In his widely praised speech on Thursday night, Khan confronted Trump over his rhetoric towards Muslims.
“He disrespects minorities and women, judges, even his own party leadership,” Khan said. “He vows to build walls and ban us from this country. Donald Trump, you’re asking us to trust you with our future. Let me ask you. Have you even read the United States Constitution?”
Khan then held up a pocket-sized copy of the Constitution that he had pulled out of his pocket.
“I will gladly lend you my copy,” he said.
Khan’s son, Humayun S.M. Khan, was killed in Iraq in 2004.
