Madame Tussauds takes their wax Trump to the street ahead of government shutdown

Madame Tussauds in Washington, D.C., took their wax figure of President Trump to the streets of the nation’s capital on Friday ahead of a looming government shutdown.

The museum released a photo of the wax version of Trump standing behind a person at an ATM in Washington.

Since Madame Tussauds is a privately owned company, it will stay open in the event of a shutdown, however, the Smithsonian museums, which are owned by the federal government, would close next week in the event of a shutdown.

The Smithsonian announced their locations would remain open through the weekend, despite much of the government shutting down starting at midnight Friday.

The Senate is scheduled to hold a procedural vote at 10 p.m. Friday on a four-week stopgap spending bill that the House passed the previous night to keep the government funded.

However, the measure is expected to fall short of the 60 votes needed to advance, with Democrats saying they will vote against the measure over demands on immigration.
