Draft Biden adviser: Warren meeting ‘no surprise’

Draft Biden 2016 senior adviser Joshua Alcorn said on Sunday that Vice President Biden’s recent chat with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) makes sense, given her importance to progressive voters.

“She has important, incredible ideas on making the economy work for everyone,” Alcorn told host Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday.”

{mosads}“Talking with her is thus no surprise,” he added. “I have no idea what they talked about.”

Biden reportedly met Warren on Saturday for a closed-door meeting at the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C.

Alcorn refused comment on Sunday over whether the face-to-face indicates the vice president is considering a 2016 Oval Office bid with Warren.

“You’ll have to let the vice president talk about that,” he said. “I’m not here to speculate on his campaign.”

“His decision will be what his decision is,” Alcorn added. “His timeline will be what his timeline is.”

Alcorn argued that should Biden enter the 2016 race, he would make an immediate impact.

“They’re enthusiastic to see Joe Biden in this race,” he said of voters. “He knows that the American people are looking for authenticity in their candidates this year. He’s the original authentic candidate.”

Biden, 72, is said to be considering a third presidential campaign following the death of his son, Beau Biden, who struggled with brain cancer, earlier this year.

Alcorn charged on Sunday that the vice president has the energy and experience necessary for winning in 2016.

“The vice president has had a firsthand view of what it takes to be president,” he said. “I don’t think age is an issue at all. He feeds off the energy of people.”

Biden is expected to announce his 2016 intentions next month.
