Cruz: ‘Complete silliness’ to suggest Trump’s team is struggling

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Thursday dismissed reports of turmoil in President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team, calling them “complete silliness.”

{mosads}“Any transition is like drinking from a fire hose,” the former GOP presidential candidate said on “Fox and Friends.” “You have to do an incredible amount of work in a short amount of time. Nobody should be surprised there’s media elites trying to throw rocks at the president-elect and his transition team.”

Trump’s team is racing to ready the Republican for the Oval Office after his stunning victory over Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton last week. The transition has not been without growing pains, however, with several prominent figures leaving or changing roles in recent days.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence, for example, replaced Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) as head of the transition effort, a move that reportedly stalled momentum.

Pence has since ousted all lobbyists from the transition team, according to reports, while former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) left the operation Tuesday.

Trump pushed back against media reports that his transition program is struggling, lashing out at critics on Twitter on Tuesday.

“[A] very-organized process is taking place as I decide Cabinet and many other positions. I am the only one who knows who the finalists are.”
