Previously undecided Nevada Democrat to vote in favor of impeaching Trump

Rep. Susie Lee (D-Nev.) announced on Friday that she will support the articles of impeachment being brought against President Trump.

Lee had remained undecided until Friday and is the latest Democrat from a swing district to back impeaching the president.

“This is a grave decision that requires thorough and solemn deliberation,” Lee said in a statement announcing her decision. “After weighing all of the facts, I will be voting in support of impeachment of the President.”

Lee noted that Trump clearly abused his power and obstructed Congress, which are the basis of the two articles of impeachment the House announced this week.

“I took an oath of office to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” Lee added. “This is a solemn decision. I end with this: democracies live and die by the integrity of our elections.”

Lee is a first-term Democrat who in 2018 won a district that Trump had carried in his 2016 election victory.

She was one of a handful of vulnerable Democrats who came out in support of impeachment on Friday.

Lee also reportedly was among a group of six Democrats who attended the White House congressional ball Thursday night.
