Kremlin: O’Reilly’s comments about Putin unacceptable, insulting

The Kremlin is requesting an apology from Fox News after host Bill O’Reilly called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “killer” during an interview with President Trump.

“We consider such words from the Fox TV company to be unacceptable and insulting,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call, according to Reuters.

“And honestly speaking, we would prefer to get an apology from such a respected TV company.”

{mosads}During the interview, which aired Sunday, O’Reilly described Putin as a “killer” while talking with Trump about whether the billionaire respects the Russian president.

Trump said during the interview that he respects Putin, noting it’s better to get along with Russia.

“Will I get along with him? I have no idea,” Trump said during the interview.

“But he’s a killer, though. Putin’s a killer,” O’Reilly responded.

“Lot of killers. We’ve got a lot of killers,” Trump said. “Boy, you think our country’s so innocent? You think our country’s so innocent?”

Some Republicans have broken with the president on their views of the Russian president.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Sunday called Putin “a thug,” adding that he doesn’t view the Russian president the same way as Trump.

The United States intelligence community said in a declassified report last month that Putin ordered a widespread influence campaign intended to help elect Trump.
